Hello to all Southern Counties Members and welcome to the second Monthly News Brief. I know this is a bit early but I thought it would be appropriate to give a quick update on club stuff and also wish you all the Seasons Greetings. I know that this will be a strange holiday and one that many of you will not be able to celebrate as you would wish but the important thing is that however we all celebrate Christmas this year we do it in a way which enables us all to be as safe as possible, in the hope that next year we can get back to meeting at club events in the way we all want to.
Talking of next year I am afraid to say that one event which some of us were looking forward to has had to be cancelled. I know that this is not good news especially for the Northern Centre team who were arranging the Tour of the Peak District postponed from May Bank Holiday earlier this year.
Did you know that many of the events organised by other Centres are open to the other Centre Members as well. So its worth checking to see what is on the other centres schedules in Rev Counter each Month and if you are interested give the organiser a call.
Today the weather here in Surrey is damp and miserable so I thought an image of Summer would be appropriate. A Summer Evening at Piltdown Pond when we used to have the Sussex Noggin at The Peacock.
And while we are on the subject of Noggins, just a reminder that we currently have three.
Have a look and if you haven’t ever been to one give them a try. You will be made most welcome as soon as we are able to hold them again.
The Club AGM was held on 6th December as a Virtual Meeting. As I received no requests for attendance I was the only representative from Southern Counties. Its worth a reminder that any member can attend the Club AGM so if you would like to see the people who are running your club look out for the advertisement of next years’ AGM which is always in RevCounter for a couple of months before December. Feel free to contact me if you feel like coming along. Suffice to say that all went well and our new Chairman is John Keener and our new Treasurer is Graham Skyrme. We are still looking for an Honorary Secretary so if anyone would like to be more involved please get in touch. I will be pleased to have a chat about what is involved. If you would like to see the detail of the reports from the various officers, including Membership and Accounts, these will be published, as always, in the January edition of RevCounter.
Did you know that the AHC Web Site has a Members Area? if you didn’t then why don’t you set yourself up and have a look. Just follow the on screen instructions and you can see the areas only available to you as Members. Just press the button below and have a look. This area is likely to expand considerably during 2021 with much of interest to members.
And finally I hope you approve of the revised format for the News Brief and hopefully I can continue to improve it. In the meantime I wish you all the Seasons Greetings and hope you stay safe and well into 2021.
